Antonia Perricone-Mrljak cycles through ideas of connection and identity upon the painted surface. Her extraordinary talent, unwavering dedication, and unique artistic vision create abstract paintings with purpose. Antonia’s journey as an artist began early, with her passion for creativity and self-expression becoming apparent. Perricone experimented with various art forms, exploring colour, texture, and emotion. During her formative years, she honed her skills through extensive practice and immersed herself in the study of different art movements.
Perricone’s work is characterized by a unique artistic language that seamlessly blends experimentation with abstraction. Antonia graduated from Sydney College of the Arts in 2018. Since then, her profile has continued to expand. In 2021, she was named a finalist in both the Paddington Art Prize and the Waverley Art Prize. In 2019 she undertook a major performance-based painting installation at Sydney Contemporary. Her work is widely collected in corporate and private collections across Australia. Her exhibitions have captivated audiences, sparking conversations and leaving a lasting impression on all who have had the privilege of experiencing her work. Collaborating with designers such as Sheria Said of Sheira Design Studio has allowed unique visions between artist, designer and client to come to life.
In discussing themes and inspirations, Antonia explains how her work is an exploration of the self. She draws inspiration from her surroundings and designs works to perfectly harmonise the elements of an interior.
